Providing a DJO Brace

Providing a DJO Brace

You want to provide your patient a DJO brace and DJO or SEGO Home Medical is not a contract supplier in that CBA? Don’t worry. DJO is actively pursuing subcontract arrangements with winning contract suppliers in the small number of remaining CBAs to ensure your patients’ access to DJO braces is not disrupted. In the interim, select the option below that works best for you and your patient to ensure your patient receives the benefit that results from the use of a DJO brace. And remember - this applies only to a limited number of OTS knee and back braces listed below. All other DJO braces are available in the same seamless manner you have come to expect from DJO!

  • Knee Orthotics/Braces: L1812, L1830, L1833, L1836, L1850, L1851 and L1852
  • Back Orthotics/Braces: L0450, L0455, L0457, L0467, L0469, L0621, L0623, L0625, L0628, L0641, L0642, L0643, L0648, L0649, L0650 and L0651

OPTIONS:

  1. Write for DJO! Contract suppliers are required to supply the specific product that an HCP prescribes. If you want your patient to receive a DJO brace, you just need to identify that brace in your prescription. Competitive Bidding does not affect your ability to choose DJO for your back and knee brace needs.
  2. Obtain an ABN. Work with the patient to determine if he/she is willing to sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN). If so, the ABN should specifythat this item is not covered/payable by Medicare because DJO is not a Contract Supplier in this Competitive Bidding Area (CBA). Include the signed ABN in your standard workflow with DJO and we’ll take it from there!
  3. Need a Custom Fit? Off-the-Shelf (OTS) braces are not right for everyone. If you determine your patient needs and would benefit from a custom fit brace, contact DJO to have one of DJO’s field service representatives custom fit the brace for your patient. CMS has specific training and documentation requirements that apply to the individual performing the custom fitting work and to bill custom fit braces. DJO has trained its personnel to ensure compliance with CMS requirements.
  4. Identify and Contact a CMS-Authorized Contract Supplier. Visit the CMS Supplier Directory website to identify a CMS-authorized contract supplier. Remember your patients can still receive the high quality DJO braces they need and deserve. Your prescription just needs to identify the DJO branded brace you want your patient to receive.
