DJO Global Showcases New Surgical Products at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons

Date

SAN DIEGO, CA, February 7, 2012 – DJO Global, Inc. (“DJO Global”), a global provider of medical device solutions for musculoskeletal health, vascular health and pain management, today announced that it will showcase a number of new DJO Surgical products at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (“AAOS”) meeting in San Francisco on February 8-10, 2012.

“We are excited to be introducing three major new products at this year’s AAOS meeting,”said Bryan Monroe, Senior Vice President and General Manager of DJO Surgical. “These new products, combined with additional products added to our US distribution partnership with Lima Corporate, will expand and strengthen our offerings in all three of our major product segments; knees, hips, and shoulders.”

DJO Surgical will be highlighting its new RSP Monoblock™ shoulder system, an extension of its very successful Reverse ® Shoulder Prosthesis shoulder system, or “RSP”. The RSP Monoblock expands the indications for reverse shoulder arthroplasty to include fractures, which will greatly increase the number of patients that can be treated with an RSP. In addition, DJO Surgical is releasing a number of conversion modules that will permit surgeons to easily transition from a primary total shoulder to a reverse shoulder arthroplasty, and from a reverse shoulder arthroplasty to a hemi-arthroplasty.  These new modules will enhance the surgeon’s ability to treat a number of modalities with the system and will allow for greater interoperative flexibility.

DJO Surgical will also introduce the Movation™ Total Knee Arthroplasty system. This new knee system is based on concepts originally developed and patented by the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York, which have had well over 20 years of clinical success. The Movation brings modern solutions to this classic knee approach, with innovative instrumentation that will allow for simple and reproducible results, and will soon incorporate the company’s e+™ vitamin E blended polyethylene, which has demonstrated superior wear characteristics as compared to other commercially available polyethylene materials. The Movation system will allow the company to address a large segment of the knee arthroplasty market that it was not previously able to address.

In addition, DJO Surgical will be highlighting the Revelation ®  microMAX™ hip system. Leveraging the 15 years of clinical success of the Revelation hip stem, the microMAX stem is a short version based on proven biomechanical principles. The proximal loading characteristics of the stem make it a perfect design for a short stem geometry, and will give it an advantage over other short stems on the market. The shortened stem allows for placement of the device with minimal bone and tissue loss, and is ideal for all surgical approaches, including the direct anterior approach, which is quickly gaining in popularity. The stem can be utilized with all of DJO Surgical’s existing acetabular cup options, including the X-alt™ highly crosslinked polyethylene liners.

Lastly, DJO Surgical has finalized its US distribution partnership with Lima Corporate. The two companies initiated their collaboration in 2009 with a limited distribution agreement that leveraged one another’s product portfolios and increased each company’s product offerings to better serve their respective customers. DJO Surgical launched the first of Lima’s products in the U.S., a revision hip system, in 2010. Lima is successfully distributing DJO Surgical’s 3DKnee™ and Foundation® Total Knee system in selected European Markets. Under the expanded arrangement, upon FDA clearance, DJO Surgical will be the exclusive US distributor for all of the Lima Trabecular Titanium (TT) acetabular products, which will be highlighted at AAOS and will further strengthen DJO Surgical’s hip offering.

DJO Global will be located in booth #5279 at the AAOS meeting.
