dj Orthopedics Updates Status of Manufacturing Move to Mexico, Reaffirms Focus on Core Rehabilitation Business and Announces Date for Release of Fourth Quarter and Year End 2002 Results

(NYSE: DJO), a designer, manufacturer and marketer of products and services for the orthopedic sports medicine market, today provided an update on the progress of its manufacturing move to Mexico, first announced on September 4, 2002. The Company reported that the move, designed to
reduce the Company's cost of goods sold, was substantially completed by December 31, 2002.

As previously announced, the Company has refocused most of its resources on its core rehabilitation business. In line with this decision, the Company intends to discontinue sales of its remaining Alaron surgical products. With greater resources committed to its rehabilitation business, the Company anticipates several new product introductions in 2003. The Company recently introduced its new diabetic walker boot for pre-ulcerative and ulcerative foot conditions related to diabetes. The Company will also showcase two new products at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons meeting in New Orleans, LA, Feb 5-7, 2003, including the patent-pending DonJoy Fource Point™ brace for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructed knees and the patented DonJoy Tru-Pull Sleeve for treating patellofemoral dysfunction.

The Company will comment on the status of its remaining performance improvement program initiatives, and the related charges incurred in the fourth quarter, as part of its earnings announcement scheduled for February 25, 2003.
