dj Orthopedics, LLC Reports Third Quarter Results

Vista, CA (November 10, 2000) -- dj Orthopedics, LLC today announced its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2000. The company's net revenues in the third quarter of 2000 amounted to $39.6 million, up $9.4 million or 31.1%, over the same period last year. EBITDA (adjusted for certain non-recurring costs) for the third quarter of 2000 amounted to $7.3 million, up $0.5 million or 6.5%, over the same period last year. For the nine months ended September 30, 2000, net revenues amounted to $101.2 million, up $16.8 million or 19.8%, over the same period last year. EBITDA (adjusted for certain non-recurring costs) for the nine months ended September 30, 2000 amounted to $21.1 million, up $2.7 million or 14.7%, over the same period last year.

The third quarter of 2000 contained 3 less business days than the third quarter of 1999 which resulted in approximately $1.4 million less revenue in the third quarter of 2000 as compared to the third quarter of 1999. The first nine months of 2000 contained the same number of business days as 1999. Growth over prior year can be attributed to the acquisition of OrthoTech and the introduction and development of several new products as well as continued growth in the company's OfficeCareSM program. The Company anticipates net revenues to continue to show improved growth into the fourth quarter of 2000 as compared to the same quarter in prior year.

The third quarter is historically our slowest period, with a reduction in surgeries and summer vacation times in the U.S. and Europe. With this said, we were able to increase average per day revenues by 37% over the third quarter of 1999 with internal growth and the OrthoTech acquisition. The integration of the OrthoTech business was completed ahead of schedule and will increasingly contribute to our top and bottom line growth. Expenses associated with this integration impacted our operating profits in the third quarter. With these costs behind us and with the fourth quarter historically our strongest, an optimistic finish to the year is expected."
